JADE WINDSCREEN
Jade Windscreen tincture (Yu Ping Feng San) is a classical Chinese herb formula used to build the immune system. The three herbs interact to create a “jade windscreen” which protects one from external attacks such as the common cold. People who are susceptible to catching colds will benefit from taking this herbal formula.

The formula is most potent when taken as a preventative. For example before entering stressful periods such as traveling, meeting deadlines, at the changing of the seasons and times when one is more susceptible to catching colds.

Suggested use: take for 2 weeks, then take one week off and repeat. This formula is particularly effective when taken while the body is strong to build immunity, i.e. especially in the late summer and fall before the “cold” season. Please discontinue formula at the onset of a cold due to its strengthening properties.

Ingredients: Astragalus Root (Huang Qi), Atractylodes (Bai Zhu), Ledebouriella Root (Fang Feng), 25% organic alcohol, and purified water. **High quality unsulphured herbs**

Astragalus Root/Huang Qi
Practitioners of Chinese medicine use astragalus root to enhance the body's energy, known to them as "qi" (pronounced as "chee"). Ancient people used it to enhance strength and regulate metabolism. The herb has only recently gained popularity among herbalists and practitioners of alternative medicine in the West.

Atractylodes/Bai Zhu
This herb acts on the spleen and stomach channels. One of its properties removes dampness from the body; the other is a warm property that dispels the cold. Atractylodes can help expel wind-cold from the superficial parts of the body, and cold-dampness and excessive fluid in the spleen and stomach; therefore, Atractylodes are indicated for treating diseases caused by dampness no matter what is in the exterior or the interior of the body. The Atractylodes herb is widely used to strengthen digestion and assimilation and to move moisture through the body. It can help stimulate the appetite for those who need it, but it also helps reduce the appetite in those who overeat. Taking Atractylodes supplements and exercising heavily or performing other types of hard physical activity, will promote muscle growth. Athletes use this herb to build powerful muscle and to provide physical endurance. This herb is helpful for those who tend to experience diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain, vomiting and fatigue, especially during the summer and in hot climates. Atractylodes is commonly used in formulas for conditions that are associated with poor fluid movement in the body such as edema, phlegm retention, and vertigo.

Ledebouriella Root/Fang Feng
In Chinese, the name Fang Feng means “to prevent wind.” This herb is very good for expelling pathogenic wind and removing dampness. These factors can cause many diseases including arthritis; the herb can also help stop pain and relieve spasms. Traditionally, Ledebouriella is used to treat the common cold, arthritis, hives and itchy skin.
